Steven Spalding

Steven is a Principal Advisor for Larta’s Commercialization Assistance Programs. He brings over 30 years of business experience with deep expertise in strategic business planning, commercialization strategies, market strategy, incubators, and IP strategy. Steven has mentored Larta entrepreneurs in the fields of agriculture, life sciences, and transportation. He also has extensive experience in rural development, small and mid-size farms, biobased products, and pharmaceuticals.

Steven is also Founder and Principal of Point A Consulting. His 30 years of experience includes leadership roles in the development of research, parks, and incubators as well as strategic and physical planning initiatives for universities, chambers of commerce, and local governments. He also is Senior Consultant with Cincinnati Ohio-based KMK Consulting and has undertaken engagements across the country in partnership with leading consultancies in the fields related to technology-based economic development including: architecture and master planning for research parks and academic campuses, research-oriented real estate development, incubator programming and management, and other specialized aspects of the technology commercialization process. Previously, as a senior executive at the Louisville Chamber of Commerce, Steven led two highly acclaimed strategic planning efforts credited with transforming Louisville into a “hot spot” of the New Economy by intensively focusing on its healthcare and life sciences cluster, and distribution and logistics cluster, as well as by building the community’s entrepreneurial infrastructure.

Steven obtained an MA in City Planning from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA from Antioch College. Steven speaks conversational French and is a native of Louisville Kentucky.
