Mark Brugger

Mark Brugger is a Principal Advisor for Larta’s Commercialization Assistance Programs. He is an experienced marketing executive with technology expertise and brings over 25 years in leadership roles with a diverse range of organizations from startups to Fortune 500 companies. Mark is currently head of marketing communications for a large Boys & Girls Club, after his first full-time experience at an education non-profit. Mark’s most recent experience encompasses work with both for- and non-profit EdTech and tech-centric organizations, utilizing his background in marketing, training and e-learning to develop and grow business units and service offerings.

Mark built the marketing and product management functions for a number of domestic and foreign start-ups and turnaround organizations. Throughout his experience co-founding a venture-backed technology start-up, Mark was instrumental in securing venture capital and maintaining ongoing investor communications and relationships. He spent a number of years in management positions at a telecommunications startup, remaining through its IPO and eventual acquisition. Mark also headed marketing and communications at a NASDAQ listed company. Mark has worked for or created 6 start-ups in his career, and attributes some of his success to his IT background as a former Price Waterhouse consultant

Mark’s sector experience spans business services, education and career services, as well as IT security, networking and telecommunications. His skill set encompasses product management, strategy, product marketing and marketing communications for companies serving B2B and B2C markets. Mark has used his skills to develop and market new services and launch them successfully. He also has experience marketing and operationalizing IT VAR channels and implementing CRMs. His volunteer passions include working to support education opportunities, people with disabilities, workforce diversity and the performing arts.

Mark holds a MBA from the University of Michigan with a focus on marketing and an undergraduate degree from the University of Virginia in Liberal Arts. He first started his technology career as a Price Waterhouse IT consultant.
