Dietrich Ruehlmann, PhD, MBA, is a Principal Advisor for Larta’s Commercialization Assistance Programs. With 15 years of experience in medical and laboratory technology development, commercialization and marketing, Dietrich has worked for small, medium and large companies including Becton Dickinson, Medtronic and Amersham Biosciences (now GE Healthcare). Dietrich has accompanied 6 companies through M&A processes, published 10 peer reviewed articles and filed 5 patents.
For 5 years, Dietrich led the American Biotech / Medtech sector for the New Zealand Economic Development Agency, NZTE. In this role, Dietrich guided 45+ companies through business planning and market entry, developed strategic relations with US-based advocacy groups and industry organizations. In addition to his role at Larta, Dietrich volunteers his experience to the Maryland Tech Council and TedCo.
Dietrich holds a PhD in Cell Physiology from the University of London and an executive MBA from the University of Maryland. Dietrich also is a certified SAFe Product Manager / Product Owner (PMPO). Before moving to Maryland, Dietrich lived and worked in Germany, UK and Canada.
