Michael is a Principal Advisor for Larta’s Commercialization Assistance Programs. He is a finanice and economics expert with 15 years of experience leading startups and small to medium sized companies to growth and profitability.
Michael has technical expertise in the agriculture, energy, manufacturing, and financial sectors. His business expertise lies in accounting, finance, investments, economics, strategy, organizational development, and leadership communication. He consulted with over fifty companies, raised over $50M in debt, equity, and public capital for his clients, and managed a $500M equity investment portfolio.
Michael is currently Managing Partner of Leahey Consulting LLC, with his father, industry veteran Duke Leahey, and of St. Louis, MO, an IP Strategy and Financial Management consulting firm for life science-driven startups, primarily in energy and agriculture. In this role he is also a formal Industry Mentor with NREL in Golden, CO.
He is also the Managing Partner of Pace Equity Colorado, a sustainable real estate development consultancy and financier who has invested over $100 million in green building projects, including solar, geothermal, and wind-driven technologies.
Michael began his career with General Electric, including stints at GE Power Systems, GE Industrial Systems, GE Aircraft Systems, GE Capital, and NBC. While at GE he was a graduate of the Financial Management Program with global recognition, a member of the Corporate Audit Staff, and a Six Sigma Blackbelt.
Michael holds a B.S. in Business Administration from The University of North Carolina, an M.P.S. in Community Economic Development from the School of Agricultural Economics at Pennsylvania State University, and has been both a Six Sigma Blackbelt and a Certified Public Accountant in his career.
