LeAnne Cabalka Tourtellotte
LeAnne is Co-Founder and CEO of JL Biosciences, a drug formulation company using proprietary technology to enhance bioavailability, stability, and efficacy of small molecule therapeutics. She also serves as the Executive Director for Vieo Strategies, is Director of the Midwest Co-Investment Network, and is an active Angel Investor. Her background includes academic, non-profit and private sector experience. LeAnne served as Vice President of the Illinois Technology Association (ITA) where she focused on program development and strategic planning for the organization. She also facilitated member company commercialization and growth through assistance with fundraising efforts, (both public and private), development of early stage business strategies. She has conducted numerous due diligence projects for entrepreneurs and investors over the years, and in particular for the Stateline Angels investment group which she currently manages.
LeAnne's considerable experience in intellectual property management, technology licensing, business development, and start-up company management equips her to provide practical assistance to companies, entrepreneurs, investors, and universities. Prior to joining the ITA LeAnne served as the Vice President of the Illinois Technology Development Alliance where she held a similar role. LeAnne's experience in the start-up community began with her leadership as COO (leading the company and reporting directly to the board of directors) of a biotech start-up company formed to commercialize technology developed by researchers at the University of Chicago. LeAnne's move to private industry came after almost a decade of academic technology commercialization and licensing.
LeAnne serves on several boards including the Midwest Co-investment Network, the Midwest University Research Network and the Purdue Technology Center of Northwest Indiana. LeAnne holds Masters degrees from the University of Iowa (M.S. Anatomy and Cell Biology) and Washington University (M.B.A., The Olin School of Business).
