Ron Kent is an Advanced Technology Development Manager in the Business Strategy and Development Group at the Southern California Gas Company. In this capacity, Ron helps to develop and commercialize new, low-carbon energy technologies along with advancing SoCalGas' environmental and technology strategies.
Ron’s current projects include the development of a wide variety of innovative new technologies including: electro-biomethanation, solar thermal chemical processes, micro-channel reactors, oxy-fuel power plants for carbon capture and sequestration, digester gas clean-up, petcoke and biomass gasification, algae energy cycles, microbial generators, advanced microwave devices, chiller and flue gas energy and water conservation, and smart systems for building fault detection, diagnostics and optimization.
Ron has an extensive management background in finance, equity investments, energy efficiency, natural gas vehicles, energy markets, and regulatory affairs.
Prior to joining the Sempra Energy utilities he was a Peace Corp volunteer and a science teacher. He holds a B.S. degree in biological science from San Diego State University, an M.S. from the University of Kentucky, and an MBA from CalPoly, Pomona.
