Principal Advisor
Lance Manning is a technology consultant with experience championing marketing initiatives for government clients and early-stage companies. Since 2007, he has served as an expert advisor for National Science Foundation research grant applicants seeking to graduate from $100K awards to $500K. Manning is in the launch phase of a strategy and communications consulting company. He also leads media projects and writes articles that promote medical innovation investments and technology leadership in healthcare.
Prior to 2007, he served as an advisor to a program manager at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency. Manning led commercialization for technology funded at $40 million and brought business insights to 50 researchers. As a result, military medical advances in diagnostic, surgical, and robotic technologies for improved survival rates were shared with over 300 industry executives. These activities led to the opening of new markets and standard of care improvements for personal, preventive, and predictive medicine.
He also has served on the scientific advisory board of Medicalautomation.org, and as a chapter executive with the Society of Manufacturing Engineers. Articles have been authored on topics such as bioethics in government-funded research, economic and policy impact of military medical innovations, and medical simulation and training, with submittals to American Journal of Surgery and Health Affairs.
Previously, Manning was employed by Unigraphics Solutions, an EDS company specializing in product lifecycle innovation. He led sales campaigns and software implementations resulting in increased design and manufacturing efficiencies for clients in these markets: industrial, medical, scientific, consumer, and transportation.
Manning received his M.B.A. from The George Washington University and graduated with a B.S. in Manufacturing Engineering from Brigham Young University.
