Vivian Dullien, Ph.D.
Principal Advisor - Life Sciences

Vivian Dullien is a Life Sciences Principle Advisor at Larta Institute; in this capacity, Vivian provides one-on-one business mentoring to the innovative companies that participate in the Larta-managed National Institutes of Health Commercialization Assistance Program (NIH-CAP). Vivian has been part of the Larta team since 2006.

Vivian Dullien, Ph.D, has over twenty-five years experience commercializing medical products. After obtaining a Ph.D in physiology from Tufts University School of Medicine, Dr Dullien worked at Abbott Labs. While at Abbott, she worked in Discovery Research, Clinical Research and Quality Assurance, and as a manager in FDA Regulatory Affairs. In Regulatory Affairs she was responsible for obtaining FDA approvals on new products. After Abbott, Dr Dullien ran a CRO (clinical contract research organization), helping companies both Fortune 500 and startup, run clinical trials and obtain FDA approvals for diagnostics, devices, and drugs.

In 1991, Dr Dullien invented a new diagnostic and became the Founder and CEO of a venture capital backed company called Biex. Dr Dullien raised over $50 million to help fund the development, clinical trials, FDA approval, and market launch of a novel diagnostic to predict preterm birth, the leading cause of infant mortality. The company was sold in 2003. Dr Dullien is now a principal in her consulting practice, Dullien Associates, assisting companies in commercializing new medical technologies, obtaining funding, licensing, and strategic partnerships.
