Dr. Louis M. Scarmoutzos

Dr. Louis Scarmoutzos is a Life Sciences Principle Advisor at Larta Institute; in this capacity, Louis provides one-on-one business mentoring to the innovative companies that participate in the Larta-managed National Institutes of Health Commercialization Assistance Program (NIH-CAP). Louis has been part of the Larta team since 2004.
Dr. Scarmoutzos has worked extensively with startups and established companies in the area of new venture creation, business development, technology commercialization, equity funding and related. Dr. Scarmoutzos has over 20 years of scientific and business experience in the biotech, high tech, medical technology and related industries.
Dr. Scarmoutzos is also President and Founder of MVS Solutions, Inc., a consulting company and President & CEO of Kollodis BioSciences, Inc., a startup biotech company. Dr. Scarmoutzos serves as a Board Member and Advisor to several small companies. He is an author of numerous peer-reviewed technical and non-technical articles and holds several U.S. and International Patents. Dr. Scarmoutzos also writes a monthly column for BioExecutive International.
Dr. Scarmoutzos received his B.S. cum laude in Chemistry from Boston College, a Ph.D. summa cum laude in Physical Organic Chemistry from the Pennsylvania State University and was a Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology at Harvard University. His continuing education includes pharmacology, quality systems, management, entrepreneurship and intellectual property.
