Principal Advisor - Life Sciences
Fred is a Life Sciences Principal Advisor at Larta Institute; in this capacity, he provides one-on-one business mentoring to the innovative companies that participate in the Larta-managed National Institutes of Health Commercialization Assistance Program (NIH-CAP). Fred has contributed to Larta programs since 2007.
Fred is a Founder and Managing Director of Exponential Pharma Ventures. For over 12 years, he has worked in healthcare finance, much of it involving new ventures. Exponential Pharma Ventures' unique and creative approach to pharmaceutical development is based on working with inventors to raise funds and advance preclinical pharmaceutical candidates to human proof-of-concept in close collaboration with pharmaceutical partners. Exponential grew out of Fred's experience financing early stage companies and desire to better align the interests of pharmaceutical inventors, management, investors and marketers.
Fred previously worked at two investments banks; Apeiron Partners for six years and Needham & Company for one year. At Apeiron, he contributed to founding Artisan Pharma, which included raising $39m in venture funding. He started his career in a business and corporate development role for portfolio companies at Schooner Capital for over three years. Fred earned his doctorate from Ohio State University in Molecular Genetics and earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation for training in finance and investment analysis.
