The
2007 Venture Forum |
The Venture Forum is the world’s
largest event committed to the showcasing of early-stage
innovations and innovators from around the globe.
Innovations that will stimulate your interest,
even blow your mind!
From remote cardiac monitoring to smart fabrics,
from media transport using P2P with a twist to
robust new portals for kids with serious behavioral
difficulties, from emerging and novel new therapies
for Alzheimer's to cheaper, faster, better
technologies for testing wireless equipment – the
range of innovations and the entrepreneurs behind
them profiled at the Venture Forum 2007 is truly
staggering.
Picking your way through the Forum
This could be overwhelming, but the organization of
this extraordinary event provides substance and
value for every attendee, regardless of your
interest. Investors get to witness innovations they
have not seen before. Industry executives get to
pick and choose from a wide array of interesting
prospects for partnership and licensing
opportunities.
Innovators who have come a long way
Entrepreneurs who have been prepped and mentored,
and are now ready to enter into serious discussions
with you meet the standards of quality that the
Forum has become known for. Many of them –
especially in the life sciences, have gone through a
rigorous coaching and training program over many
months. Others have been selected with a view to
the market, and to your needs and interests.
The Earth is Flat
The Forum is a window on the state of innovation
around the world. Featuring exciting innovations
from New Zealand, Taiwan, Korea and Russia, we truly
engage the notion that the Earth IS flat. Our
global guests are organized in pavilions on the
exhibit floor for easy access.
The Event that other events talk about – but can’t
replicate
The
Venture Forum is unique. Behind the event is a
mentoring and training program that uncovers,
coaches and showcases the innovations coming from
such institutions as the National Institutes of
Health, and roams the globe seeking innovations from
research institutions, spinning out of other
companies or originating in the ether. No other
event boasts such an engaged involvement with the
best that technology has to provide, with a
relevance to today’s – and tomorrow’s – markets.

ATP Announces Details on
Competition, Proposers’ Conferences
Approximately
$60 million is expected to be available under a new Advanced
Technology Program (ATP) competition to support high-risk industrial
R&D projects, the program announced today.
As part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology, ATP
offers funding for specific research projects by individual
companies or industry-led joint ventures to accelerate the
development of innovative technologies. Multiyear awards are made on
a cost-shared basis for technically challenging, high-risk research
that has the potential for broad national benefit. The program
encourages path-breaking research on emerging or enabling
technologies that lead to revolutionary new products and industrial
processes and services that address national priorities and generate
large societal benefits.
A single company can receive a total of up to $2 million for R&D
activities over a three-year period. For single-company recipients,
ATP funds may only be used to pay direct costs. A joint venture can
receive funds for R&D activities for up to five years, with no
funding limitation other than available funds.
Projects are selected in a competitive, peer-reviewed process.
Project proposals must be submitted to ATP by 3 p.m. Eastern time,
on Monday, May 21, 2007.
To provide potential applicants with general information regarding
the program, tips on preparing proposals, and the opportunity for
questions and answers, ATP is holding five public Proposers’
Conferences on April 13, 2007, in Gaithersburg, Md.; on April 16,
2007, in Detroit; on April 18, 2007, in Boston, and Los Angeles; and
on April 20, 2007, in Austin. There is no registration fee, and
applicants are not required to attend one of these conferences. The
April 13 Proposers' Conference in Gaithersburg will be webcast.
