Series #6: Finance and Valuation
It is not crucial for the CEO to know the nitty gritty of accounting
principles, but it is crucial for him or her to track the companys
cash flow and burn rate. This workshop will cover the financial
tools that allow entrepreneurs to run their businesses responsibly
and raise the right amount of funding at the right time. Topics
include: developing realistic financial assessments, budgeting and
forecasting, preparing financials for the business plan, how to
be fiscally prepared for foreseeable budget cycles, valuation, and
reporting to financial stakeholders.

#4: Revenue Recognition for Start-Up Companies
Why cant revenue be recorded if the cash has been received
and it is non-refundable? Revenue recognition continues to be a
focus in the financial community, particularly the tech sector.
Penalties for not properly recognizing revenue include loss of management
credibility, impact to a companys valuation, and potential
investor issues. The goal of this course is to focus on the key
revenue recognition principles that can be used by emerging technology
companies to guide them in this ever-changing and complex area.

Negotiation #2: The Difficult Negotiation
This session helps participants learn how to employ advanced techniques
used by professional negotiators. The workshop will share effective,
professional tactics for dealing with real-life difficult negotiation
situations, such as uphill negotiation where one party
has substantially more negotiating power, management of difficult
or angry negotiating partners, and the communication of bad news
and surprises. Structural techniques for successfully dealing with
uncertainty in negotiations also will be discussed. The three hour
workshop includes interactive team and individual exercises that
help to consolidate new negotiation skills.
