Larta Announces Verizon Fellowship Winners
January 24, 2005

Five companies have been selected for Larta Institute's Verizon Fellowship Program. Supported by the Verizon Foundation, the program is designed to assist women, minority, and recent immigrant technology entrepreneurs in Los Angeles.

The 2005 Verizon Fellowship Program awardees are: ASCE Power, Live Ad, SimpleSend, L-Technology, and Neurolight, Inc. ASCE Power designs, manufactures, and sells Silicon Carbide (SiC) semiconductors devices. Live AD Inc. provides patent-pending software products that allow advertisers and agencies to place and measure real-time, interactive promotional advertisements. SimpleSend has created an intuitive and simple to use web-based software to compose, send, manage and track eNewsletters. L-Technology has developed a unique chemical formulation to remove many hazardous contaminants from soil and water using no energy, and creating no gases or toxic byproducts. Neurolight, Inc. develops and markets products to screen students for dyslexia.

Although the Los Angeles region is a “hot-spot” for technology, the number of women, minority and recent immigrant technology entrepreneurs is not commensurate with the number of women, minorities and recent immigrants in the Los Angeles region's population as a whole. The Verizon Fellowship Program was created to address this disparity.

Verizon Fellowship Program awardees will receive free access to the entire 2005 suite of Larta Institute's high quality training and support programs.

"We are very pleased to be working with these wonderful companies and entrepreneurs. The Verizon Foundation's support for women, minority and recent immigrant entrepreneurs shows a significant commitment to helping everyone achieve the American dream," said Larta CEO Rohit Shukla.
