  • Programs Manager

    Job Description

    Program Manager manages the planning, development and delivery of Larta’s Commercialization Assistance Programs (CAPs) from initial planning to execution and beyond. Larta runs CAPs for US Federal Agencies such as the National Institutes of Health, the US Department of Agriculture, and National Science Foundation, as well as international governments and multilateral organizations. These programs are designed to help innovative entrepreneurs and university researchers with the launch of their technologies to market; they involve one-on-one business consulting, IP assessment, training workshops, development of relationships with industry and investment representatives, and showcase events. The candidate should demonstrate core Program Management competencies, including: communication, project management, technical design, and presentation skills.

    Job Duties:  

    • Leads the development and implementation of key program elements
    • Plans, schedules, and controls activities to fulfill identified objectives and milestones for each entrepreneur participating in a program
    • Coordinates several teams of specialists and subject matter experts who together deliver mentoring services to entrepreneurs, and ensure that the entrepreneurs in the     program/s are well-served
    • Ensures that all contractual deliverables are met (contracts are between Larta and U.S. federal and regional agencies and between Larta and foreign government entities of       institutions)
    • Manages and coordinate all logistical requirements of the program including: conferences, webinars, live seminars, etc.
    • Makes sure all reports and processes pertaining to the program are well documented and presented
    • Conducts regular meetings and conference calls with clients on the implementation of key deliverables and the evolving requirements of the program
    • Develops and maintain on-going relationships with executives in different technology industries, and with the investment community on behalf of early-stage companies serve     by our programs

    Job Requirements:

    • Hghly proficient in spoken and written English
    • Minimum of 3 years of manager-level experience
    • Demonstrated experience developing and implementing large scale programs/projects from the bottom-up using well-known or available project management applications
    • Exceptional project management capabilities, including development and adherence to timelines and budgets, and attention to detail
    • Exceptional organizational and multi-tasking skills. Candidate must be comfortable working in a very diverse, fast-paced environment, adhering to tight deadlines, and getting involved in every aspect of the program, including communications
    • Solid understanding of the broad technology industry, key players, trends, etc. and interest in technology commercialization and investment issues

    Qualifications:

    • The ideal candidate would be a project-oriented person who is comfortable interfacing with start-ups and industry partners alike
    • Knowledge of SBIR and similar government programs and initiatives is preferred
    • Undergraduate degree (preferably in business, economics, or any other business related field).

  • Program Associate

    Job Description

    Under the direction of and in collaboration with the Program Manager, Program Associates primarily assist with program management, which includes communicating with outside entrepreneur/researchers & advisors, planning and executing  events, and developing necessary reports & deliverables.

    Responsibilities

    • Day-to-day activities including managing and coordinating all logistical requirements of all programs;
    • Assists Program Manager with various administrative activities and program reports, as well as documenting and updating program action items/issues logs;
    • Assists Program Manager with tracking and reports, including coordinating and conducting various program surveys and tracking. Extracts data for analysis and interpretation. 
    • Communications with participating entrepreneurs, mentors, and industry representatives; 
    • Data management and analysis;
    • Visual aid materials design and preparation;
    • Event marketing and management;
    • Logistics and communications with domestic and international clients, advisors and sponsors. 

    Job requirements:

    • Highly proficient in spoken and written English
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Ability to communicate and articulate well with executives inside and outside the organization. 
    • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office
    • Event management experience-planning and logistics desirable
    • Attention to detail, strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities
    • Motivated, dedicated and a team player
    • Knowledge of life sciences industry, familiarity with terms and concepts would be desirable

    Educational Requirement: Undergraduate degree (preferably in business, economics, or any other business related field).

    Salary Range: $42,000 - $50,000

  • Graphic Design Internship

    Job Description

    We are looking for a highly motivated design intern to contribute their creative voice and design sensibilities to our small, dynamic team. We work in an exciting, fast-paced, start-up environment that can sometimes tend towards the eccentric. We seek a designer who is excited about entrepreneurship and innovation, and is looking to be a part of an organization in the process of taking its branding and marketing to the next level. As our in-house creative expert, you must be ready to jump in on anything and everything marketing and design-related. Candidates are required to commit to a minimum of 4 months to the internship, and at least 20 hours per week.

    Applicants available to start immediately will be given preference.

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide design support to the External Relations, Business Development and Programs teams
    • Produce artwork and provide creative input for marketing collateral such as the company annual report, brochures/flyers, event signs and email blasts
    • Provide design solutions for the company website, blog, e-newsletter among other online channels

    About You

    • Fluent in Adobe Creative Suite 4
    • Ability to present content in a visually appealing manner
    • Strong sense of visual design concepts, e.g. color theory, typography, positive/negative space, etc.
    • Have a clear understanding of branding and the ability to design with a consistent look and feel
    • A quick learner, able to work independently and open to working on a diverse set of projects
    • A visual thinker with strong attention to detail

  • Programs Intern

    Job Description

    Larta Institute is seeking a highly-motivated self-starter with exceptional multi-tasking and writing skills and interest in working in an entrepreneurial environment. This internship is a great opportunity to get your feet wet in the intersection of innovation and entrepreneurship. As Larta continues to expand its reach globally, we’re looking for key support and forward thinking. Candidates’ majors and interests should align with our organizational mission and culture to ensure a good fit for the internship.

    The programs intern must possess the ability to efficiently manage their time and be extremely detail oriented. Excellent analytical, verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to be successful at this position. The intern will support Larta’s Programs team in the following ways:

    • Create PowerPoint presentations and marketing materials,
    • Communicate with high-level members within Larta's networks (e.g. mentors, grantees, clients, industry) as well as the Larta executive management team,
    • Think strategically about every task assigned, and possible ways to improve efficiency,
    • Organize various events, meetings, and conferences; and
    • Assist with programs execution, as needed.

    In addition to excellent written and verbal communication skills, we are looking for applicants that are interested in, quick to learn, and, ideally, already familiar with vocabulary, concepts, and theories of innovation, entrepreneurship and international development. Solid knowledge of Microsoft applications is essential. Work-study students are preferred and encouraged to apply.
