Mr.
Murray has over 25 years experience as a specialist in the
legal and business aspects of production, financing and distribution
of motion pictures and television programs, as well as DVD's
and video cassettes, interactive and online media, video games,
the Internet, musical concerts, publishing and acquisition
of entertainment companies, film libraries and music publishers.
He also counsels clients in the fields of copyright, trademark
and merchandising. He has acted as outside counsel to Warner
Bros., Time-Warner, Turner Broadcasting, HBO, Castle Rock
Entertainment, Fox, Sony and Metro Goldwyn Mayer (MGM). He
also represents individual performers (e.g., Carol Burnett,
James Garner), producers and executives. In the merchandising
area, he has acted as counsel for toy manufacturers, television
and motion picture companies and sports organizations.
Mr. Murray also represents companies based outside the U.S.
in connection with their motion picture, television, musical
concert, Internet and publishing activities in North America
and throughout the world. The companies he has represented
include Convergence PLC (U.K.), TeleImage and M6 Television
(France), C.Itoh & Co., Ltd., Japan Broadcasting Corporation,
Hakuhodo, Hyundai, Korakuen (Tokyo Dome International), Marubeni,
NHK Enterprises, Tokyo Broadcasting Systems, Japan Satellite
Broadcasting, Nomura Securities, Samsung, and Tokuma Enterprises.
Mr. Murray has lectured and written articles on intellectual
property and the digital revolution. He has acted as legal
counsel to a number of companies, ranging from established
entities like EMI Music, IBM, Microsoft, Sony Online Entertainment
Inc., Warner Bros. Online/Entertaindom, Yahoo!, as well as
Rhythm & Hues, Pittard Sullivan and Digital Domain (leading
digital production studios and special effects creators),
to many start-up and emerging Internet and technology companies.
Mr. Murray was named one of "The Top 100 Most Influential
Attorneys" in California by California Law Business in its
October 30, 2000 issue.
Mr. Murray received his B.A. in 1971 from the University of
Illinois and went on to receive his J.D. from the University
of Southern California School of Law, in 1974.
