  • Larta CEO Shukla to Keynote Commercialization Conference
    December 5, 2005

By James Klein, Larta VOX Editor

Rohit Shukla, Larta Institute CEO, will be the featured lunch and keynote speaker at "Commercializing R&D: Resources for Emerging Technology Companies," December 8 at the University of Maryland. The all-day conference is designed to help federal Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) grant-winning companies commercialize their technologies.

"There is increasing recognition, among state government agencies, of the benefits of commercialization programs that assist SBIR companies," said Shukla. "Larta Institute is in the business of helping state, federal and foreign government agencies with their technology commercialization programs, and we are happy to share our insights with audiences like the one at this outstanding Maryland conference, which we hope will be attended by companies and agencies from across the country and around the world."

Larta Institute manages several programs aimed at helping federal SBIR grant awardees, including the National Institutes of Health Commercialization Assistance Program (NIH-CAP); and the Advanced Technology Program Entrepreneurship Education Workshop, which is funded by the Department of Commerce's National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST).

The conference will explore commercialization issues and provide resources for federal SBIR winners and applicants, seed and angel fund recipients, and later-stage start-up companies. The all-day agenda includes panel discussions on corporate partnering, federal funding programs, intellectual property, commercialization strategies, regulatory trends, Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) opportunities with universities, and attracting seed, angel and venture funding.

The conference is supported by Maryland's Department of Business and Economic Development, Technology Development Corporation (TEDCO), and the Tech Council of Maryland.
