Congress Kills SBA Loan Subsidy
The Small Business Administration's most popular loan program no longer will get a federal subsidy. Congress eliminated $79 million in funding for the SBA's 7(a) loan program. Higher fees that went into effect in October will remain in place.

Congress last week voted to freeze all new commitments to venture capital and private equity funds channeled through the Small Business Investment Company program, citing projected losses as high as $2 billion in recent years.
