Wireless
Industry Faces Declining Customer Growth

carriers slowed in the last year, growing by 17% to 128.4 million
in 2001. This was down from a growth of 27% in 2000. Market saturation,
carrier aversion to subsidies, and high customer-acquisition costs
caused a decline in the number of subscribers in the wireless
industry.
