This kept the ATP in business, but its very uncertain future is still in limbo.

The CalTIP program, a seed grant administered by larta on behalf of the state of California, will now play an even more vital role to companies trying to emerge in a hesitant community burned by bad investments. Money is available, yet the rules for who is allocated those funds is shifting. The way that CalTIP has evaluated companies--rewarding hard core technologies as opposed to puff -- will be mimicked in the venture capital community, which can't afford to buy into hype any longer.
