The
Next Best Thing To a Crystal Ball?
LA VOX - August 2
That's what Simpex
Technologies states in the welcoming of its home page, beneath
an image of a electronic chip being tapped by a laser. Although
the small Orange County company has other technologies, as well
as consulting services, it's obvious that it places much of its
expectations for growth on one area: a first of its kind nano-detection
technology which tests semiconductor connectivity using light. Simpex

Government Support for R&D: Helping Hand or Handout?

If You Build Right, They Will Fund
LA VOX - March 15
The CalTIP
program, a seed grant administered by larta on behalf of
the state of California, will now play an even more vital role to
companies trying to emerge in a hesitant community burned by bad
investments. Money is available, yet the rules for who is allocated
those funds is shifting. The way that CalTIP has evaluated companies--rewarding
hard core technologies as opposed to puff -- will be mimicked in
the venture capital community, which can't afford to buy into hype
any longer.
