The
Next Best Thing To a Crystal Ball?
That's
what Simpex Technologies
states in the welcoming of its home page, beneath an image of a
electronic chip being tapped by a laser. Although the small Orange
County company has other technologies, as well as consulting services,
it's obvious that the company places much of its expectations for
growth on one area: a first of its kind nano-detection technology
which tests semiconductor connectivity using light. Simpex is hoping
it will revolutionize microelectronic testing as well as secure
its own fortunes.

Smart VC: mercenary or revolutionary?
When people get really pissed about something
you've said, it often means you're hitting too close to home. So
venture capitalist Ajit Shah should feel good about being flogged

Why
are we in a broadband recession?
Investors were holding on for the consensus Next Big Thing--broadband.
Internet Video looks like tomorrow's "killer app." Demand
for high-speed connections has been robust, as customers have lined
up to pay $40 a month to get 300-500 kbps Internet hook-ups from
cable or telephone companies. Yet,
in late 2000, hopes that broadband would sustain the tech bull-run
faded fast and furiously.
