Work Environment Changes

1. Tech Dress
If you had a nickel for every pair of khakis and t-shirts at last week's LAVA conference, your financial health would be about on par with the average dot com. 2. The Future of the Ventura Freeway Technology Corridor
At the Southern California Development Forum seminar, Mark Schniepp, Senior Economist for the Controller's Office and Director of the California Economic Forecast Project, told the audience of over 150 that the 101 Corridor region will be generally unaffected by the recent dot-com shakeout. Despite the region's unquestionable strength, other economists disagreed with Schniepp on the degree to which the area will be impervious from the economic downturn experienced by all technology sectors.

3. Organizational Profile: Layoff Lounge

Attracting 200-300 attendees on average, The Layoff Lounge is part networking affair and part social event for pink-slipped workers who want to share their woes over a martini, while maybe running into someone who will snap up them or their ideas.
