Associate
Job Description
Programs Associates assist
the organization in all aspects of program planning, development and delivery.
Day to day activities include, program's timelines preparation and tracking,
database management, visual aid materials design and preparation, event management,
logistics and communications with domestic and international clients, advisors
and sponsors.
Programs associates will be working closely on the delivery the company's' programs;
including:
1. Larta's Commercialization Assistance Programs. Larta runs assistance programs
for US Federal Agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the
US Department of Agriculture (USDA), National Science Foundation, and the Department
of Commerce. These programs are designed to help innovative entrepreneurs and
university researches with the launch of their technologies to market; they
involve one-on-one business consulting, IP assessment, training workshops, development
of relationships with industry and investment representatives, and showcase
events. Programs associates primarily assist with planning and executing the
events related to the programs, fulfill all logistical requirements of the programs,
and communicate with the entrepreneur/researchers, advisors and other people
involved in each program.
2. Larta's signature event, The Venture Forum (
http://www.theventureforum.com). Now 15 years strong, the Venture Forum
is the globe's largest - and longest running - showcase of seed and early stage
innovation and entrepreneurship.
Throughout the year preceding
The Forum, Larta Institute runs programs to assist companies funded by U.S.
federal and regional agencies in commercializing their innovations. Larta's
work also extends to innovators and university researchers from countries around
the world, through our Global Bridge initiative and our technology transfer
consortium, Network T2. Venture Forum presenting companies are prepared by Larta's
world-class mentors to deliver presentations focused on excellent science and
strong growth potential for an audience of investors, partners and customers.
3. Larta's Global Bridge Program: a fully customized and comprehensive training
and networking creation program that fosters scientific, technological, and
economic cooperation between the U.S. and foreign countries. Designed to assist
innovative regions to compete and extend their relevance, both, globally and
in their regional markets, the program includes high-quality executive management
training and connects companies to industry and investment professionals to
cultivate valuable partnerships. Larta has developed Global Bridge programs
fro the governments of Canada, Brazil, Korea, Hong-Kong, Taiwan, Israel, Russia
and more.
Job Requirements
Educational Requirement: Undergraduate degree, preferably in business, communications,
marketing, or event planning.
The Programs Associate must have the following skills:
- Highly proficient in
spoken and written English.
- Excellent oral and written
communication skills.
- Interest in marketing
and event planning.
- Ability to communicate
and articulate well with executives inside and outside the organization.
- Highly proficient in
Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word and powerpoint.
- Database management with
Excel. Knowledge of Access is highly desirable.
- Experience working with
Macromedia Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator highly desirable.
- Event management experience-planning
and logistics highly desirable.
- Attention to detail,
strong organizational skills and multi-tasking abilities.
- Flexibility with respect
to work hours.
- Motivated, dedicated
and a team player.
Programs
and Marketing Interns
PROGRAMS INTERN
Programs Interns provide assistance to Larta's Programs Department. Interns
assist in all aspects of program planning, development and delivery. Day to
day activities include, timeline preparation, visual aid materials design and
preparation, database management, event management and communications with vendors,
sponsors and clients. Interns will also collaborate in developing and marketing
the organization's signature event, The Venture Forum (www.theventureforum.com),
and the organization's program for the National Institutes of Health (http://nihcap.larta.org).

Undergraduate students,
with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and good knowledge of
Microsoft applications are encouraged to apply. Experience working with Macromedia
Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop, and Adobe Illustrator a plus. Applicants should
be organized and interested in event planning and marketing, have the ability
to work with others yet motivated to work independently. Preferred undergraduate
majors include business and marketing. Work-study students strongly preferred.
